In this three-day masterclass, you’ll learn how to create a character cloth doll, using a combination of hand and machine stitching. You’ll be provided with the basic pattern, calico, stuffing, eye beads, hair, fabrics, buttons, and strong thread for jointing. There will be turning tools and doll needles available for use in the class, and also for sale if required.

After experimentation, you will choose the most successful variations to form your finished doll, which you will then dress and embellish.

You are welcome to bring any fabrics or embellishments you might want to include as well as your own basic sewing kit.

Students who have attended previous classes with Jennie can learn more advanced techniques such as how to create a more curvaceous body using dart shaping, how to create a bust, and head variations, including needlesculpting, adding separate facial features such as eyelids and ears, and adding colouring. Ears, toes and articulated fingers can also be covered.

This course is suitable for all, but basic needle skills are essential.

There will be a fee of £5 per person to cover materials for one doll and a few experiments.
