In this four-day masterclass, you’ll create your own character cloth doll, using advanced techniques. You will be provided with a basic pattern, and you will experiment making body part variations using some more advanced cloth doll-making techniques, such as how to create a more curvaceous body with dart shaping, creating a bust, and head variations. The heads can be further developed using needlesculpting, colouring, separate eyelids or set-in painted eyes. Ears, toes and articulated fingers will also be covered.

After experimentation, you will choose the most successful variations to form your finished doll, which you will then dress and embellish.

Basic machine and hand stitching skills are essential. This class is aimed at those who have some experience of doll-making, but support will be provided for those with less experience.

Jennie is teaching a Woodland Creatures doll-making class at Big Cat Textiles in March. For more information, go here.
