In this 3-day masterclass you will create your very own luxury corset. It starts with an introduction to the history of corsets, covering 18th Century, Victorian and Edwardian. You will then explore existing collections and collect research to inform your own unique design. You will then learn how to adapt the block to suit individual measurements, then cut and sew a toile to fit.

You will cut your corset pattern from a selection of fabrics, before moving onto assembling it, using tacking, stitching and boning. You will learn about different types of boning and reinforcement, both historical and contemporary, and apply them to your corsetry.

Once your corset is sewn together you will focus on binding the edges, inserting lining and adding eyelets. You may add decorative features at this stage and will explore a range of possibilities for suitable embellishment and embroidery. Finally lace up and model if you wish!

When you book onto the class, you may indicate a preference to style and fill in the form with regards to size so that initial patterns can be constructed. If you wish to bring your own fabrics, please consult with Anna to check their suitability.
