Immerse yourself in experimental felt-making! The aim of this workshop is not to create a perfect replica of a natural object, but rather to use nature as a starting point from which to explore surface design and sculptural forms. You’re encouraged to come with an open attitude and a sense of play. There are no mistakes, just opportunities to learn.

The first part of the course focuses on the creation of a series of 2D and 3D samples. A range of exercises in techniques and construction methods will be offered, and may include stitch and distortion, contrasting thicknesses, textural finishes, pre-felts, felts, 2D or 3D resists, and more.

As the course progresses, you’ll be encouraged to develop your own project and start translating your observations of nature into felt. Gladys will be on hand to offer individual support and guidance to help you develop your project. The class will culminate in a final piece(s) of work which can be figurative or abstract, 2D or 3D. This can form the basis for further exploration at home.

This class is suitable for those with basic felt making experience who would like to take their artistic work a step further.
