In this class, you will use extra-fine Australian merino wool to create unique pieces of jewellery by combining metal chain with textiles in various ways, including felting it into the piece or creating a cave or a keeper for it.

Participants are encouraged to bring small objects, ranging in size from 1cm to 3cm in diameter/length, such as flat stones, coins, metal-pieces, buttons or whatever else you can imagine to felt into their jewellery pieces.

You can also can bring other fibres, such as interesting textile pieces, silk, sequinned fabrics on a loose woven base, etc. as well as embellishments, such as little pearls, or anything else that takes your fancy.

This class is aimed at the more-experienced felt-maker.

This is the second of Judit Toth-Pocs’s two Big Cat masterclasses. You can find details of her first class, Classic and Phantasy Hats, which takes place on the days prior to this class, here. The two classes are designed to offer complementary routes of exploration, but also to stand alone for anyone unable to attend both.

About the tutor

Judit lives and works in Kecskemét with her family, and has exhibited all around Europe. Her work is characterised by the 3D, creating statue-like pieces she makes from a single piece of felt. She says ‘I like to make order from chaos and the feeling of how the tangled fibres become tame and unified under my hands. I like to incorporate different materials in my works, rubbing them together to give a feeling as if they had always belonged together.’
