In this workshop you’ll explore different techniques to manipulate pre-felt pieces to achieve an extraordinary surface design for jewellery. You’ll work with interesting material mixtures and incorporate three-dimensional and gold-plate felted parts to make each piece one of a kind.

Ricarda encourages experimentation. You will therefore play with pre-felts, structures and textures, forms and designs: cutting, sewing, layering, stapling and bulging to create new and exciting pieces. During the process, you will discuss your experiences and results with the group members and reflect on what you wish to explore further. You can also deconstruct fashion jewellery to combine with your felt pieces to create new pieces.

This class is aimed at experienced felt-makers. Those with less experience can be accommodated if we have prior notice. Please advise Alison when you’re booking.

About the tutor

Ricarda Aßmann is an experienced textile artist with many years of exhibiting experience. She is also a seasoned tutor having taught internationally, as well as being a published author: her first book was FilzFrauen, and her next is PassionFilz. Ricarda spends her time working on small studies for her classes, or creating objects and sculptural wall hangings. She is particularly thrilled by transferring her huge surface designs into more small-scale projects, especially one-of-a-kind felt jewellery.
