Building on last year’s masterclass, you will use felt to construct a series of wall-hangings or free-standing objects, intended to be lit up from either behind or below.

This will enable you to extend and combine techniques to create a more complex composite structure to your own design and personal specifications: a Bigger Picture.

Taking inspiration from Charlotte’s architectural pieces, and from your own research, you will develop a series of three-dimensional structures on the front and back of felted panels. When the panels are lit up, either from underneath or behind, the hidden details embedded within the surface construction will be revealed, and take on a spectacular, almost X-ray-like appearance.

Charlotte will work one-to-one with each student to understand what they wish to achieve, and will introduce a wide variety of surface techniques, supporting you as you go on to explore how to apply these techniques to the panel.

Please note, this course will extend and expand on techniques learned previously with Charlotte, but is equally suitable for those with felting experience who have not yet attended a class with her.

This class is aimed at the more-experienced felt-maker looking to expand their practice.
